Deodorants with documented plastic-free, refillable or compostable packaging

Plastic-free, refillable or compostable: which is greener?

There is no single best answer. A solid bar with no case produces the least packaging, but it cannot be refilled and some people find a bare bar awkward. A refillable tin or case keeps the container in use and cuts waste if you actually buy the refills.

Compostable tubes

Paper tubes that the maker calls compostable avoid plastic, but home composting conditions vary, and the claim is usually the maker's own rather than certified.

Check the formula too

Packaging says nothing about how well a deodorant works for your skin. Many eco-friendly formulas are aluminium-free and rely on baking soda or acids, which can irritate some people. Try a small size first where one is sold.
